The 2026-27 Assist Fund season will be launching on August 1st. In preparation, Hockey Canada Foundation would like to provide some important information and updates below. In addition, please see the Assist Fund Member Guide and MHA “One Pager” attached.
 
The Assist Fund commits to distributing $1.3 million to kids across Canada to help them access the game of hockey. Once this limit has been reached, the Assist Fund application portal will be closed, and no further applications will be accepted for the remainder of the season. In addition, any applications which were submitted but were not assessed prior to the limit being reached will not be approved, regardless of whether they would have otherwise met HCF’s eligibility criteria. 
 
The Assist Fund will no longer be distributing payments to MHAs via cheque. All payments will be made by direct deposit or e-transfer. Payments will be distributed by November 13, 2026. Please see the links below for MHAs to add electronic payment information.

The Assist Fund portal is now be located within the HCR. This will allow for a one stop shop of all participants, and increased clarity and efficiencies within the program. MHAs will now be notified within their account when an applicant from their association has been approved for an assist. They can see this information under the “Assist Fund” tab within their profile.
